MY ACL surgery recovery and healing
Having an acl surgery is always said to be tough and the pain you go through during the surgery is always mentioned but no one talks about the recovery part . The part where getting out of the bed for the first time is the biggest reward for you  getting a good night sleep due to the pain feels like heaven and walking feels like a new experience in life. It is a slow process that takes a lot of patience and time to heal.  The recovery journey is same for most people but ill explain how i could do so and return back to my normal life
My acl surgery was caused by a football injury acl is a major stabilizer  knee joint and when it is torn there needs to be a reconstruction surgery
THE FIRST PHASE
THE First two weeks are the most intense care that are to be required . It is all about rest in that period there will be a lot of pain constant icing is required as the knee is swollen task like eating sleeping  can be really uneasy to do
What helped me throug this tough phase
Constant talk to my parents who assures me i will be all good and this is just a tough phase
The doctors words and advise and followed all his advices
My close people coming home to meet me and spend time since I could not go out
Medication also relieved me a bit of the pain
Overall this phase was the hardest but through constant push and desire I cleared it well
THE SECOND PHASE
In this phase there is some strength you feel in your leg pain reduces swelling goes down you can leave your house with the help of a brace or crutch which feels great. Physiotherapy starts and gradually with his help he makes you do a 90 degree bend on the same knee which feels great
Walking starts properly in this phase as you feel great finally walking without any support you get a great range of motion and you get great confidence from this phase
THE THIRD PHASE
This phase you can start exercising moving out getting back to your normal life go back to the gym , go on runs i remember the trip permission i finally got and this phase is almost as if your recovery is done. The physiotherapy is really intense during this period but you can feel the strength is your leg build up and all those task you were struggling with in the earlier phases you can easily do it now
THE FINAL PHASE
You get back to your  normal life you can finally play sports you knee are stable enough to do everything you did before the surgery.  You return bacm to your life in full speed and the first time you play a sport again and with the knee being stable first time you feel paranoid but its a great feeling
Everyone just talks About the physical aspects but its a tough phase which you have to work through but once you complete it you will be stronger than ever and the surgery will teach you a lot of things and value your body  you just have to stay consistent knowing your stronger than this and you will be fine
